It’s a look that’s all about pared back elegance, layers of texture, loads of linen with all its natural imperfections, a muted colour palette and a special piece or two to add a bespoke character and personality to a room.
It’s the thrill of the hunt in unearthing a stately handmade mirror, or a vintage piece of artwork found on Etsy or one of the many eclectic boutiques in Byron’s Hinterland or one of Byron's fabulous homeware stores. She loves to recycle and up-cycle too. She loves a fresh white panelled wall, dark timber floors and mixing up eras, with mid-century bedside tables sitting happily below contemporary white wall lamps.
She loves putting her own spin on things like pulling on paint-spattered clothes to hand-stain kitchen cupboards, floors and timber furniture to get just the right colour. Maybe it’s re-covering cosy armchairs to better suit her aesthetic like has been done with the timeless pretzel chairs now resplendent in their inky blue covers with striking white piping. And greenery. Lots of it. It’s about drawing Mother Nature inside to create a relaxed calm.
Of course when you’re on a Byron getaway it has to be about comfort too so there are the cosiest 5-star luxury bed toppers from I Love Linen, luxurious, woven-textured bedcovers and throws from Cultiver, Chapel & Co and Bemboka, as well as piles of cushions from HK Living, Haveli Byron Bay and Hale Mercantile.
