The Chalet evokes the glamour days of Palm Beach, California but with a relaxed vibe that is pure Byron. Set amongst towering cabbage palms, the only original feature retained was the splendid roofline, and under it the house was gutted. What was created in its place was the ultimate holiday pad for family and friends.
In the outdoor area, a vibrant blue rectangular swimming pool with an inviting outdoor shower was built, framed by a stark white timber wall on one side with its long stretch of cactus garden, a deck area at the end with sun loungers and charming vintage umbrella, and on the other side, a lush grassed area. It’s an extension of the quietly luxurious, open-plan living, dining, lounge area, with its mid-century furniture layered perfectly with selected contemporary pieces.
An intimate media room has bespoke rich velvet upholstered, wall-to-wall seating, scattered with the plumpest, cosiest cushions and giant floor cushions too. And a private deck off two of the bedrooms provides a relaxing space for a morning coffee. Beds are always 5-star and covered in layers of richly textured linen. There’s always linen. Metres of dreamy linen curtains can be seen separating the master bedroom from the open-plan bathroom with its burnished round mirror, textured log stool and free-standing bath surrounded by banks of louvre windows overlooking the lush tropical gardens, expressing perfectly the sheer indulgence of this beautiful sanctuary.
