The Perch is a luxury rural hacienda which rests high above Possum Creek Valley in Byron’s lush, green Hinterland – the ultimate in privacy for those who wish to escape. With its rolling hills and serene landscape this peaceful sanctuary also satiates your inner explorer, being just minutes away from the picturesque village of Bangalow and the bustling heart of Byron with its long sandy beaches. Just be sure you’re home for the magnificent sunsets by the sunken fire pit.

The Perch embraces nature-inspired textures and colours, from the terracotta wash on its mud brick exterior and the mottled whites on the soaring interior walls to the timber slatted cathedral ceilings and natural brick-paved flooring. Raw timber columns are a stunning feature throughout and the paved outdoor area leading to the main lawn invites guests to settle in and soak up the stunning vista across the valley below, or, come nightfall, watch the glow from the Cape Byron lighthouse sweep across the Hinterland.

Two bedrooms share the mezzanine level with the softly draped floor-to-ceiling curtains which encase the space, creating a moody and ethereal sensibility. Guests can also invite friends to stay in The Sleep Out which provides another King sized bedroom and well-appointed lounge area which leads out to the stunning vista on an expansive deck.

Stretching out below the mezzanine level is a generous open plan living and dining area with a combustion wood fireplace. By day, the house is awash with natural light and by night, carefully considered lighting creates a delightful and moody ambience. The gourmet kitchen is an entertainer’s delight, with brand new Smeg appliances and a well-provisioned Butler’s Pantry which seamlessly connects to the brand new outdoor kitchen and firepit.

For a dose of classical opulence, the main bathroom boasts a clawfoot tub and antique brass faucet. Through double doors off the bathroom is a lavish, floor lit outdoor shower so you can enjoy the stars over-head while you shower at night. It has large grey, stone tiles, a rain shower head, and a feature wall with a window out to the trees, truly bringing the outside in.

The Perch is complete with a 12 metre indoor solar heated pool, designed in black and draped with curtains – simple, moody and very unique. The lush green outlook from the pool’s interior makes one feel as though they’ve stumbled upon a secret garden oasis and boasts unique interior lighting for those steamy Hinterland nights.
