We thought we’d ask her to inspire some wanderlust in you for our little piece of paradise. Things like where to eat, where to grab a steaming brew of coffee, where to shop, the best beaches (of course), and why she chose to stay at The Manor which is just one of the unique properties in the Byron Beach Abodes collection of luxury holiday accomms.
We know that Tulum, NY and the Maldives are destination favs but what is it about your home town of Byron you love most.
The people, the local food (especially our Thursday morning Farmers market), the pristine beaches, the bush turkeys in the backyard, the Sunday night beach drumming on Main Beach, the dolphins jumping around you while you surf. What's not to love?
So you’re playing tourist in your own town. Where are the must visit spots?
I love The Pass for a surf, early morning Lighthouse walks, Treehouse for a pizza and cocktail after a big day at the beach or Topshop for a late afternoon acai bowl and cold brew, Barefoot for the best coffee in town (OK. Sparrow is amazing too so just try both!). Please don't miss the Farmers Market either - it's the best! Go for breakfast and listen to local buskers while you eat your organic croissant from one of the best bakeries in Australia, Scratch Patisserie. Make sure you visit the stunning SPELL boutique too - their cactus courtyard is so cute and they always have fun events happening.
OH! And the Industrial estate is incredible for shopping - if you're into small local brands, this is the spot! You could get lost in there for days.
The unforgettable dining ops?
Doma Cafe - a little Japanese restaurant in the hills. Local people travel for miles to eat there amongst the Gum Trees. It's just a vibe! Grab a beer on tap from the milk-bar-meets-post-office next door.
Clunes Store & Cellars - If you feel like a little drive, this gorgeous town has only a few shops, but they pack a punch. Go here if you want to eat super healthy food and pick up a bottle of local Jilly wine from their gorgeous cellar next door.
Harvest Bakery - One of my ultimate fave spots. We take everyone here! Head early on the weekend to select your pastry of choice from their historic bakery and sit among the sunflowers in their organic garden. We have made sooo many good life choices here over coffee in this exact spot.
Woods Bangalow & Folk Byron Bay - both service up some of the best food in the region and are just super vibey to visit! Fave among locals!
Raes on Wategos - perfect for a special occasion (be sure to hit their gorgeous cocktail bar that overlooks Wategos beforehand too!)
The only-a-local-would know hidden gems?
Little Wategos is such a gem (and great for when Wategos is really busy!)
Buskers line the streets most nights so factor in some time to cruise around and enjoy some tunes before or after dinner! I remember watching Ziggy Alberts busk when he was only 16 on the street and he's still one of my fav artists!
Cosy Corner is the best spot for when those Northerly's blow!
The water tower is one of the best places to watch the sunset
Barefoot Brew Room serves up some of the best coffee... ever!
The best Wow! thing to do in Byron on the land and in the water...
Sunset surf at The Pass
The places to go and at what time for the IG worthy shots?
Go early anywhere, it gets busy, especially for places like The Farm, Killen Falls (which are a must do!). I'd head to The Pass or Wategos for sunset. The Pressed Pantry, Kombi and Topshop are also great little spots to take a pic.
You recently stayed at The Manor. What kind of getaway does it provide?
One of the best. Seriously. Every detail is beautiful. We felt so creative and in our element during our visit because of this beautiful home. Stay-cay of dreams!
What would be in your picnic to have on the grass beside The Manor pool?
Tacos and margaritas!
What did you love about The Manor?
It was just so cosy and you felt at home, but with all the hand picked touches of a designer home. Insane!
What do you pack in your suitcase for a beach getaway?
About 10 bikinis (haha), a few of my fav SPELL travel scarfs (which I wear as scarf, sarongs, top etc!), denim shorts, a few linen pieces (including a few tops and a pair of shorts), at least 1 or 2 nice dresses for sunset soirees and balmy dinners, walking gear (including runners), 1-2 pairs of sunnies, a beach bag and reusable drink bottle for all the activity!
Your fave Byron Bay brands?
SPELL, Pampa, The Beach People, Yoli & Otis, Kivari, Rowie, Hope & May, Habitat, Zulu & Zephyr
