She’s driven by the creative process from concept to design and implementation and at the root of it all is balancing superb design and luxury with the practical needs of everyday living.
For Taliah, balance is a key element in living her best life and that applies to the food she and her family choose to eat too. Sometimes it’s putting her feet under the table at one of her fave local eateries such as Harvest, Bayleaf and Beach. Or it’s sharing a delicious home prepped meal created with the freshest of local ingredients from one of Byron’s amazing local markets or providores such as The Source, which had its beginnings as a Byron startup and now has 50 stores around Australia showcasing its approach to only stocking local, organic health and bulk food.
A recent trip to Ubud in Bali inspired Taliah to get creative with salads, where much like in the villages scattered throughout Byron’s Hinterland, fresh ingredients are grown and harvested locally and sold in side-of-the-road fruit and veggie stalls. Add a zingy dressing to a freshly-torn assortment of leaves, a yummy, crunchy topping made from seeds or coconut - toasted for extra flavour - maybe some caramelised nuts or roasted chickpeas, parmesan crisp bits or baked tortilla chips, and you’ve got a pretty awesome meal.
Here are four of Taliah’s favourite autumn recipes which include a couple of healthy salads, a nutritious bone broth and a tasty chicken pie (click for recipes). Yes please!
