BYRON: Where To Go For Happy Hour

WHETHER YOU'RE A LOCALLY-BREWED CRAFT BEER FAN, WINE CONNOISSEUR OR COCKTAIL AFICIONADO, MOST OF US LOVE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DISCOUNTS ON OUR FAVOURITE BEVVIES DURING HAPPY HOUR. WE LOVE IT EVEN MORE IF THERE HAPPENS TO BE A HAPPY HOUR OFFERING ON SOME TASTY MORSELS TOO AND OF COURSE IF YOU'RE IN BYRON BAY IT'S BOUND TO BE EVEN HAPPIER!

At this time of year you can still do a bit of whale spotting, take walks along the beach and hikes into the Hinterland are pure delight, the water’s getting warmer and the super-crowds haven’t yet hit this most iconic of beach-side holiday destinations.

Byron’s awash with fabulous new bars and restaurants, and along with some classic Byron eateries such as Miss Margarita and Mez Club, you can share the Happy Hour love around.  One of the newest hot spots, and pure holiday Byron Bay, is Loft where Happy Hour is actually Happy Days with discounts on your favourite tipple starting at midday, every day of the week!

Check out some of our favourites, and because our luxury accommodation is in easy walking distance to the heart of town, it’s easy to make Happy Hour just the start of your night.

Mez Club – daily 3-5pm.  Bright and blue and breezy with such a fab Mediterranean feel, it’s also got marvellous mojitos, mezze plates and more.  It could well mean your Happy Hour could turns into an evening soaking up the Byron vibe.

Miss Margarita – Daily 5-6pm. It’s where you’ll enjoy $10 Ginger & Lime Mule, $11 Classic Margarita, $12 Mojito and $5 Tecate in a high energy venue that blends perfectly the flavours of Mexico with the beachy vibe of Byron Bay. It’s an institution in Byron now, so get in early!

The Bolt Hole – Daily 5-6pm.  It’s all about peace, love and grog at The Bolt Hole and where ‘not ordering a cocktail is a squandered opportunity’.  That or one of the 300 whiskeys, gins, rums, tequilas or artisanal spirits on their menu.  Entry is through a vintage church door to this cosy, vintage craft cocktail, whiskey and gin bar, two floors up from the bustle of Byron and with panoramic windows opening up to the stunning Byron hinterland and its breathtaking sunsets.

Loft Happy Days – every day 12-6pm or Spritz Sundays with $12 spritz cocktails.  It doesn’t get better than that does it?  Well yes it does, because Loft is all light, bright, seaside chic, and seated on the sprawling balcony you’ll have views to main beach and along Jonson Street with its tangle of holidaymakers and locals too.

Locura – daily 5-7pm.  The crew behind Three Blue Ducks has created an awesome Latin American diner and cocktail bar that morphs into a madly cool late night bar.  It’s balcony, nestled over Byron’s buzzing Lawson Street, is the perfect spot for Happy Hour bevvies and food.

Balcony Bar – Daily 4pm to 6pm.  Happy Hour on beer, wine and cocktails + freshly shucked oysters + views over Jonson Street’s sun-kissed travellers and laid-back locals + views of Byron’s famous sunsets…. Yep that’s got to be a winner!

The Beach Hotel – Monday to Thursday 4pm-6pm.  This is the only bar in town perched right opposite the beach, and with $6 beers, free upgrades from a schooner to a pint and more, ocean views and a setting sun, it’s grass roots Byron at its best.

Targa - 4-6pm Tuesday to Saturday.  There’s a good reason Targa won the Peoples Choice award in the 2019 Australian Good Food Guide.  Try it for yourself starting with their Aperitivo Happy Hour and their  $12 Cocktails, $7 Beers, $8 wines and $12 Moet.

Sticky Wicket -  everyday 5-7pm with a special 2 for $20 espresso martinis between 7-9pm. It’s North American-style sports bar meets British local pub, and is the place to be for sporting aficionados with 13 screens showing national and international sport, as well as $1 wings, $5 jam jars, $5 wine, cider and beer.
