The Top Shop milk bar and takeaway was founded in 1951, making it the second oldest continuously running business in Byron Bay after The Great Northern Hotel. In 2008, Andy Gordon converted the old weatherboard cottage on top of a hill into a cafe and take away store and it quickly became the must-do stop for foodies. Top Shop loves supporting local businesses, growers and farmers markets as well as plucking the freshest produce from their own green garden.
Ask any Byron Bay local, expat or new resident their favourite spot for coffee or lunch and they’ll say The Top Shop. It’s easy going and distinct appeal to all walks of life makes for one of the most enjoyable locales to sit and enjoy the delicious milk bar inspired menu. Try the American burger with fries or the great array of tasty sweet treats. There are lots of healthy vegetarian options and the smoothies and milkshakes are just divine. Or you can simply grab a coffee, lounge on the lawn and soak up the Byron Bay sunshine.
